What is ACK!?? I am glad you asked. ACK is closely related to "OOF" but has more emphesis like "WHOOF." You still don't understand? Well for example, look at a Picasso painting... "ACK!" should come to mind immediately. The painting is... well, for want of a better word (like ACK) strange, and to some, even disturbing. But it is somehow so compelling that you have to look at it ... like a train wreck. Worse, you then feel the uncontrollable urge to see still more! What works for Picasso, also works for webpages. There are those out there that are so interesting, different, or just plain strange that you just have to see them. A page that you just have to tell your friends to check out. Do you own such a page? Then our mascott Bill says, "ACK! This ring is for YOU!!!"

The WebRing "NavBar"
Do not copy this code for your page!
|
The NavBar contains the links necessary to connect your page to all the other member pages in the ring. To make the NavBar work, you need to add (copy/paste) a small piece of HTML code (actually a small JavaScript) to your page. When you apply to the ring, you will be provided a UNIQUE NavBar code customized for your page. You do not want to copy/past the ring code displayed above, because it contains the wrong code for your page!
If you already have a NavBar from another ring on your page then you do not need to add another copy of the NavBar code to your page. The "ACK! Ring" portion of the NavBar will be automatically added to your current NavBar.

ATTENTION MEMBERS WHO JOINED BEFORE 12 OCTOBER 2001
With the sale of the Webring system (see above for details), you need to move your Yahoo-Webring membership over to the new system. Here is what you need to do:
- Log in to YAHOO using your current Yahoo ID.
YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO YAHOO BEFORE GOING TO THE MIGRATION PAGE!!- Go to the "migration" page http://edit.webring.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/migrate
- Follow the migration links until you get to the "Webring Login Page" Here you need to create your NEW Webring ID. Fill out the form as a NEW MEMBER
NOTE: They STRONGLY suggest using the same Yahoo ID for your new Webring ID to keep things simple.- This completes the migration process. You DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE YOUR CURRENT YAHOO NAVBAR CODE unless.....
- You changed IDs when you migrated. If you created a DIFFERENT Webring ID (your Yahoo ID and WebRing ID do NOT match), then you WILL need to replace the NavBar code. Go to "My Rings page" and then follow the links "Edit Site Information" and "Get Navigation Code."
- OR, if you want to use the new code. Why would you want to do this? Because the new code does not use the Yahoo servers, it will load faster.
Ok, I did the migration thing, so where are my sites?
Your sites are now listed on the My Rings page. Note that it has been split into three parts:
- Rings you own (View Rings)
- Sites you have in Rings (View Ring Sites)
- A listing of sites by each url you have registered. (View Web Sites)
To insure the integrity of ACK! WebRing, the ring is checked to insure that each member page is ok. Any pages that no longer exist are removed from the ring. Any pages found with missing or broken ACK! NavBar will be given a chance to fix the problem before being removed from the ring.
You too can help keep the ring unbroken by e-mailing me if there's a problem with any site in the ring. Report problems such as sites that crash your browser or have inappropriate content for example. It is also to your benifit if you periodically (every month or so) check your ACK! Next and Previous links to ensure your part of the ring is working ok.
When reporting a problem, include as much information as possible so I can find the broken site. Include the Site Name and URL if known. All reports of problems will remain confidential.
If you come across or happen to know of any other suitable sites which you would like to see in the ACK! WebRing, please feel free to invite them over to check out our ring!
Please feel free to send suggestions, ideas, and comments at any time.
Flames will be used to toast marshmallows.
